Shifting the Collective Up a Gear ⚙️

Up until this year, Laka has been a purely pedal-powered business. It’s what we’ve always done and our customers loved it. But in 2025 we had the opportunity to take Collective Insurance beyond bikes, and into the wider green mobility universe.

This year we successfully acquired Luko’s e-scooter portfolio - a key moment as we move towards becoming the category-defining insurer for micromobility across Europe. Luko is a French insurtech with thousands of e-scooter riders, meaning thousands more green mobility riders and vehicles joined the Laka community. This is our third acquisition in the last 18 months, after acquiring French bike insurer Cylantro in 2023 and CoverCloud's bike insurance portfolio in the UK in 2024.

Another huge milestone was our Series B funding, through which we raised £7.6 million in equity. Complementing this, we secured a £6.5 million Venture Debt Facility from HSBC Innovation Banking, bringing our total new funding to £14.1 million. In a fragmented micromobility insurance market, this new funding enables us to move quickly on strategic opportunities and cements our position as an emerging category leader.

Force for Good: Supporting Local Cycling Communities 🫶

Our Collective thrives when the community thrives. In 2025, we backed the people, projects and organisations that keep us all riding.

Looking after the places we ride 🌿

Trash Cat is an initiative led by Hari Milburn that combines purpose-driven adventures with a mission to clean up our trails. Riders with all types of bikes and from all backgrounds are brought together to achieve one common goal. The goal is simple: clean up the waste on our trails and open up a new way to explore the outdoors. During our event in Bath, over 625 items of single-use pollution were cleared up!

Supporting the British Racing Scene at the Via Criterium and The London Cycling Festival 🏁

The Via Criterium and the wider London Cycling Festival is quickly becoming one of the stand out events of the UK cycling calendar. Hosted by VIA Atelier in Kings Cross, the event draws thousands of riders and spectators every year. This year the elite races were part of the Rapha Super League, taking the racing to new heights! The action on the technical Coal Drops Yard circuit was as good as ever, with lots of rides and events happening beyond the track too.

MTB for the win 🌲

Local trails are the lifeblood of offroad riding. This year we sponsored Ride Bristol's mission to maintain local trails and grow the MTB community. Our donation helped train three new ride leaders (including two women!), enabling more group rides and events, as well as supporting trail maintenance at Ashton Court.

Team & Ambassadors 👑

We proudly welcomed Audrey Cordon-Ragot as our new Ambassador in France! Audrey Cordon-Ragot is an iconic figure in French cycling, being a multiple-time French champion and Olympian. She epitomises the passion and dedication needed to succeed at the highest level. But beyond the podiums, Audrey is a cyclist close to the community, who understands the realities of cycling, whatever the ability. With this partnership, Audrey Cordon-Ragot will help raise awareness among the community of the importance of protecting your bike.

Community Events 🎪

We co-hosted several top events among the cycling community including:

  • The Ride Luca x Laka Women’s Bike Mechanic Workshop. Together, we helped riders gain confidence to nail one of the most essential cycling skills...fixing a puncture! We’re all about empowering riders, building confidence, and looking out for each other. It was great to see such a strong community of women learning together and gaining hands-on, practical tips (puncture repair counts as a VERY important life skill in our books!).
  • We brought together 100+ cycling industry professionals with our first Lakapéro in Paris. All with the help of Le Concentré Vélo + Le Job Vélo. The appetite for real life connection is real. We’re hoping to replicate this event in other cities in the future, so keep those eyes peeled for an event near you soon.
  • One of our favourite rides this year - the super ride out with Laura Kirkpatrick at The Clubhouse Putney for a 35-kilometre loop around Richmond Park.  It was so amazing seeing people show up, connect and learn more about cycling.

Turning Heads

Alongside being one of the most iconic London cycling brands, Condor Cycles also have a shop to match, with a legendary front window that riders and commuters cycle past every day.

This year we collaborated with Condor Cycles to turn the attention to bike insurance, with the aim of turning a few heads on the morning commute.

Our message was simple, if your bike gets stolen, Laka will have your back. It was great to get Laka noticed out in the wild, on the streets of London with an eye-catching display and a powerful message.

Laka on Tour: Making Our Mark!

We got our hands dirty at the legendary Mont Ventoux, leaving our  touch on one of the most iconic stages of the Tour de France. Armed with our coral chalk spray, we tapped into the buzz of the race and covered the tarmac in Laka style.

Paving the Way for Partnerships 🤝

The Laka pack got a lot bigger in 2025!

This included teaming up with over 20 new partners, from industry giants to innovative startups.

Our partnership with sports retailer Decathlon continued and expanded, as we opened to five countries - opening in Germany and Belgium to add to existing UK, French, and Netherlands markets. We’re looking forward to continuing to support Decathlon’s European customers with collective bike insurance into 2026.

This wasn’t the only partnership though. From teaming up with leading bike-leasing company Eurorad and premium e-bike brand Kalkhoff, to connecting with pioneering German e-bike brand Lemmo and French bike subscription service Motto, we expanded our presence across Europe/ e-mobility ecosystem.

These partners highlight our diverse, rock-solid, and scalable foundation for providing insurance to fleet and e-commerce brands that will keep the world riding.
